A modern day slave, an international art dealer, and the unlikely woman who bound them together
Authors: Ron Hall, Denver Moore, Lynn Vincent
Subject: biography (of Denver Moore)
My rating: 3*
About the book:
This is the life story of Denver Moore, who lived on a Louisiana plantation in the early 1900; a 'modern day slave'. The book describes each person's story and intertwines destinies and lives. The story is inspiring and uplifting; somehow I had higher expectations from the book after reading the title, subtitle and reviews. Religion is a big part of this book (Christianity), and if I would have to put this book into a category, I would start with religion. It is a book worth reading though, if you can accept one point of view when it comes to religion and the few exaggerations along the way. It looks like this book will be brought to life (or should I say to screen) next year (2011), with Samuel L. Jackson playing Denver. Interesting to see if the movie will have the same take on religion...?
