About the book:
Where should I start...I admit to have fallen victim of the hype. The sad story of the author who died prematurely, the trilogy waiting to be published, the rave reviews about the uniqueness of the writing...I decided to actually buy the first 2 books and planned to buy the 3rd one. I have started to read this first one, eager to devour such an amazing book. What a disappointment! The story has a plain detective plot lacking originality, with far too many characters and an often times confusing and weak writing. I struggled to read it all, getting to the point of hating the book by the time I reached the end. Lisbeth Salander, the main character, the super intelligent hacker, is NOT the ever fascinating punk heroine but a totally unrealistic and annoying creature. And the hundreds of pages of the book only magnify her inability to be popular. With me, at least. This a book that is far too long, with many repetitive passages, quite exaggerated at times and with many irrelevant descriptions. If this book is good at something, it is a perfect example of a successful marketing campaign. I probably will find plenty of excuses to avoid reading the next 2 books from the trilogy...what is fascinating though, is the ratings this book receives. To read more reviews, click here. And...good luck!
